Relationship is a seed you sow deliberately without expecting immediate dividends.

In 2018 I had applied for a membership upgrade in a particular regulatory body via the normal process and was awaiting feedback.

Fast forward to 2020, I was yet to receive feedback after sending emails back and forth for almost two years.

Then I remembered I had met a young lady that I had intentionally started building a relationship with during a seminar at Lagos Business School who mentioned during one of our interactions that she was taking some courses with this particular body; I called her to explain my situation and immediately she sent me the contact details of my district’s Chairperson. I called him and mentioned who gave me his number…….and in less than 3 weeks everything was sorted.

Now that is the power of relationship, adding value to someone.

You should note that relationships are like investments, you must sow in order to reap and you must always think long term because you have to nurture the seed by adding value.

You must make yourself worthy for someone to invest their relationship card on you like the young lady did for me.

I’ve seen people receive lucrative job and business opportunities based on referrals (relationships).
