Now that you have repositioned yourself strategically, it’s time to take ownership of your career journey.
Know that no one would drive your career better than you can, your career is your business and you are the CEO required to make all the decisions required to move it forward.
- Draw up your career goal; this is a clear statement that maps out what you want to achieve and it may change over time.
- Take personal development seriously; you must learn To invest in yourself, understand your career plan and know what’s required so don’t wait for your organization to invest in you.
- Do not outsource your development to your organization.
- Build meaningful relationships; the majority of the opportunities you’ll get will come through relationships, be intentional in building great ones.
- Build visibility internally and externally: What’s the point of doing great work and no one hears about it?
- Find a Coach: having a career coach is like icing on the cake, as they help you maximize performance to achieve your potential.
