Clarity simply means the quality or condition of being clear or easy to understand; oftentimes the cause of not reaching our peak performance or not being able to perform at a level that is expected of us is usually the lack of clarity.

As a professional with a growth mindset, it is important that you constantly seek clarity of what is expected of you before you set out to work; understandably you have your JD written out on a document for you. However, do you understand the key performance indicators that will be used to assess your performance at the end of the year?

Please do NOT file away your JD if you do not understand what the KPI’s are for every item on the document, ask questions to understand what the expectations are.

The only way to work smart is to never make assumptions when it comes to delivering the right value, even though you may want to use your initiative in some cases, be sure you are thinking in alignment to business goals.

Until you do, you will never thrive in your career because you will never give the right value. (it’s not a curse, it’s just the hard truth)
